(edit)
this tutorial might not work with blender 2.40 and up since it was made before it's release.
but it can still be useful if you know the newer versions blender well enough, newb's may want to find an older version, or read up on the newer version, for help on the different tools and functions within blender look here [link]
also a link to the manual should be included in new versions under Help>Manual
Oh my god this is of much use to me. Blender is cool, but the learning curve is more like a learning wall; you gotta make a real effort to blow through it
1.wtf F9 - doesnt do anything. 2.Screw - where to find button to scret image? if you go through spacebar you cant manage digree and else. 3. Subdide Fractical doesnt excist theres just Subdide and Subdide smooth. so wtf? xD my blender is newest version.

Thanks for the tutorial! I've had it installed, but I've never really understood how to start. I think I'll give this a try tomorrow in the morning. Things usually seem that much clearer after a good night's sleep, and I'm too fuzed to make head or tail of even the simplest tasks in my familiar beloved Photoshop right now.

The only way i know is to select the vertices you want gone (b then left button drag on the vertices you want to mark, if it doesn't work the first time you have to press b and drag again) then press x which will bring up a dialog that asks you if you want to delete. You click OK and you're golden.
Hope it works. I'm very new to the program. On blendercookie.com they have a "getting started" section with those kinds of tips for doing the simple stuff.
